Forest and woodland, usually in rocky areas. Ranges north from the Budawang Range, and east of Bombala. One record from Ben Boyd National Park south of Eden.
Shrub to 2 m high. Branches densely covered with more or less spreading hairs. The whole plant strongly aromatic. Leaves opposite each other, 1–3 cm long, 1.5–6 mm wide; mid-green, hairy, moderately to densely hairy, upper surface moderately to densely covered in somewhat spreading, coarse, rigid hairs, lower surface densely glandular, tips somewhat pointed; margins entire, curved to strongly rolled down. Flowers dark mauve, 8–10 mm long, with a bell-shaped tube, 2-lipped, 5-lobed. Calyx 2-lobed. Flowers in leafless clusters, often leafy at the base. Flowering: spring.
