Heath and rocky places. Coast, ranges, tablelands, and Western Slopes. Mainly Blue Mountains.
Rigid shrub, sprawling to prostrate. Stems to 0.2 m long, hairless to rough with minute projections. Leaves alternating along the stems or opposite each other, 0.2–0.55 cm long, 1.5–2 mm wide, leathery, margins thickened and entire, tips blunt and curved down. Male and female flowers on the same plant. Flowers with 6 'petals'. Male flowers pale red, 'petals' 0.8–1.5 mm long. Female flowers reddish, 'petals' 1.2–1.6 mm long. Flowers single or in clusters. Seed case mottled green and red, oval, smooth, 4–4.5 mm long. Flowering: spring.
