Wet to dry forest and woodland. Coast, ranges, and the the eastern part of the tablelands, mainly north from west of Moruya.
Shrub to 4 m tall. Stems hairless to sparsely hairy. Leaves with sharp points, alternating up the stems, 0.4-2.2 cm long, 1.3-5 mm wide, tips pointed, margins flat or curved upwards, lower surface darker than upper surface. Flowers 8-12 mm long, pea shaped, with 5 petals, 2 joined together to form the keel, standard petal yellow to orange with red to red-brown stripes at the front, wings yellow to orange, keel yellow to red. Bracteoles linear to triangular, papery, inserted at the base of the calyx tube. Flowers in leafy clusters. Flowers Winter to Spring. Pods hairless or with a tuft of hairs only at the tips.
