Very low shrubland in alpine feldmark on windswept alpine summits. Kosciuszko National Park.
Perennial herb. Flowering stems 0.02–0.04 m long, covered with short appressed hairs, usually shorter than the leaves, unbranched. Leaves basal, 0.8–3 cm long, 5-15 mm wide, margins mostly with 2 rather long teeth, sometimes entire, margins and upper surface with rigid spreading hairs 3–4 mm long, tips pointed. Flowers with 5 golden yellow petals each 7–22 mm long. Sepals curved down. Flowers single. Flowers summer. Seeds numerous, plump, 2–3 mm long, with smooth sides, tapering gradually into a stout beak 1.2–2.2 mm long.
