Weed of disturbed sites. Coastal north from Moruya. Ranges north from near Burragarong reservoir. Tablelands north of the Kings Highway. Doubtfully naturalised in the ACT.
Introduced perennial herb, mostly prostrate. Stems to 0.15 m long, hairless to hairy. Leaves opposite each other, 0.7–2.5 cm long, 2–5 mm wide, tips pointed, surfaces hairy to more or less hairless. Flowers white, tubular, the tube 2–4 mm long, with 4 lobes. Calyx 4- or 5-lobed, the lobes spreading. Flowers that do not open often present, smaller, remaining in bud or developing seeds by self-fertilisation. Flower heads few to many-flowered, subtended by 4 leafy bracts. Flowering: spring–autumn. 'Seeds' usually 4 per seed case, 1.7–2 mm long, hairless or sparsely rough, upper surface with a slight ridge in the middle.
