Weed in shallow water. ACT and Sydney area. Occasional elsewhere.

Notes

Introduced perennial herb to 1.2 m tall. Leaves at the base of the plant. Leaf stalks of emergent leaves triangular in cross section and slightly winged towards the base. Emergent leaves 10-48 cm long, 20-100 mm wide, margins entire, tips pointed, surfaces hairless, shiny, bases occasionally cordate. Submerged leaves linear, to 50 cm long, 10-25 mm wide, with no obvious blade development, and forming a rosette below the water surface. Male and female flowers on the same plant, male flowers in the upper whorls, female flowers in the lower whorls. Flowers about 30 mm in diameter, with 3 white or pinkish petals. Flowers in 2-12 whorls of 3 up the flower stalk. Flowers during the warmer months.
