Dry forest, woodland, shrubland, grassy areas, disturbed sites, and seasonally inundated areas. Western Slopes.
Short lived perennial herb or shrub to about 0.5 m tall. Leaves fleshy. Branches densely white-cottony. Leaves scattered along the branches, 0.3-1.5 cm long, flattened cylindrical, hairy when young, becoming hairless with age. Flowers tiny (less than 3 mm in diameter), with 5 lobes, single. Burrs almost round, hairless to slightly hairy, with a crown of 10-12 teeth or small spines.
