Where found

Forest, woodland, grassy areas, recently burnt sites, and damp sites. Widespread.

Notes

Annual herb to 0.5 m high, hairless. Stems 4-angled below the nodes. Leaves opposite each other, 0.3–1.5 cm long, 2–13 mm wide, tips blunt to pointed, surfaces hairless, leaves stalkless. Flowers yellow, 4–9 mm long, tubular, with 5 spreading lobes each 1.5–3 mm long. Flowers in clusters. Flowering: spring-autumn.
