Salt marshes and near streams and lakes. Coastal. Occasionally in the ranges. Tablelands north from Lake George (north east of Canberra).
Perennial herb, flower stalks to 0.05 m high, prostrate, mat forming, rooting at the nodes. Stems woody, hairless, to 0.5 m long. Leaves in clusters along the stems, 1–11 cm long, 2–35 mm wide, glossy, spoon-shaped to elliptical, margins entire Flowers 5–12 mm long, reddish brown outside, usually whitish inside, tubular, the tube split to the base, with 5 lobes. Flowers mainly Spring to Autumn.
