Shrub or perennial herb to 1.50 m high. Leaves alternating up the stems, crowded, 1–8 cm long, about 1-2 mm wide, margins often rolled down, surfaces hairless. Flowers pale pink to white, sometimes spotted darker pink, 10–15 mm in diameter, with a short tube and 4 petals, and a hinged column 6–7 mm long sensitive to movement, arising from the centre of the flower. Flowers in elongated branched clusters. Flowers Spring to Summer.
