Plants of South Eastern New South Wales
Stylidium productum
A trigger plant
Stylidaceae
Dry forest and heath. Coast, ranges, and the eastern edge of the tablelands, north of Berry.
Perennial herb, stems to 1 m long, sprawling. Adventitious roots develop from the stems and form new plants. Flower stalks with short glandular hairs, sparse at the base and becoming more dense towards and within the flower clusters. Leaves scattered along the entire length of the stems but crowded at intervals, the basal region often leafless due to the death of old leaves. Leaves usually 6–20 cm long, 2–3 mm wide, margins finely toothed, surfaces hairless. Flowers pink, 3–9 mm long, with a short tube and 4 petals, and a hinged column 6–8 mm long sensitive to movement, arising from the centre of the flower. Flowers in an elongated cluster about one-third the length of the flower stalk. Flowering: November–January.
