Sporadic garden escape, often in moist sites. Coast, ranges, tablelands, ACT, the mountains to the west, and Kosciuszko National Park.
Introduced perennial herb to 1.5 m high, rhizomatous. Stems ribbed, with glandular hairs especially when young. Leaves alternating up the stems, 12–25 cm long, 30–120 mm wide, hairless to sparsely hairy, gland dotted, deeply dissected with a fern-like appearance, appearing almost compound, with 21–41 concave toothed segments. Flower heads bright yellow, disc-shaped, 5–9 mm in diameter, with many florets, 0 petals, in clusters of 5–100. Flowers spring–autumn.
