Natural grassy woodland and disturbed urban areas. One record north east of Bombala.
Introduced perennial herb to about 0.25 m high at the seeding stage (to about 0.07 m high at flowering). Flower stalks green suffused with pink, woolly in bud, hairless when the flower opens except just below the flower head. Leaves basal, about 8–18 cm long, 20–45 mm wide, almost hairless, with 3–4 pairs of lateral pointed lobes. Leaf stalks green suffused with purple. Flower heads about 30 mm in diameter, with many yellow 'petals'. Flower heads behind the 'petals' oblong-bell-shaped. Bracts surrounding the flower heads with fringed white to pale pink borders 0.3–0.5 mm wide, the bracts pointing out or abruptly curved down, the lower parts of the bracts appressed to the higher bracts. Flowers June–Sept. Seeds 2.5–3 mm long, pale cinnamon to pale ochre.
