Perennial herb to 0.5 m high, often scrambling, often suckering. Branches 4-angled, densely hairy and sticky. Leaves opposite each other, aromatic when rubbed, 1.5–5 cm long, 12–20 mm wide, tips somewhat pointed, surfaces moderately to densely hairy, and densely covered with stalkless glands, margins toothed or scalloped, bases more or less squared off. Flowers deep pink-purple, 8–10 mm long, tubular, 2-lipped, with 5 lobes. Flowers single at the base of leaflike bracts, in unbranched clusters. Flowering: December–June.
