Forest margins, urban bushland, disturbed sites, crops, and along streams. Sydney area and the ranges to the west of Sydney. Occasionally coastal south of the Sydney area.
Introduced perennial climber to 5 m tall. Stems densely hairy when young, becoming sparsely hairy. Leaves opposite each other, 2–8 cm long, 10–45 mm wide, bases with pointed lobes, margins entire or toothed, both surfaces bristly. Flowers orange or yellow, rarely white, usually with a black centre, 30-40 mm in diameter, tubular, with 5 spreading lobes. Flowers single. Flowers all year.
