Disturbed sites. Coast and ranges north of Razorback, Sydney area. ACT. Rarely elsewhere.
Introduced herb to 1.5 m high. Stems mostly much-branched from the base, 4-angled in cross section, ribbed on the angles, surface hairless except for a few sparse hairs on and near the nodes. Leaves opposite each other, 3–7 cm long, 6–20 mm wide, moderately hairy, margins bluntly toothed. Flowers pale purple to pinkish lilac, with a ring of white hairs in the throat, about 1.5 times as long as the calyx; tubular, the tube about 2.5–3 mm long, with 5 lobes. Calyx 4-toothed, different from every other species of Verbena in the area covered by this key. Flowers in slender spikes at the tops of the stems. Flowers mainly October–March
