Rainforest and wet forest. Ranges, tablelands, ACT, and the Brindabilla Range in NSW just west of the ACT.
Perennial herb, erect to sprawling, rooting from the nodes, to 0.45 m high, hairy, the hairs mostly short, rigid, and curved. Leaves opposite each other, 1.2–6.5 cm long, 6–35 mm wide, margins coarsely toothed with 6–12 uneven teeth on each side, bases squared off or wedge-shaped, tips pointed. Short curved hairs on the upper surface, margins, veins on the lower surface, and sometimes also sparsely hairy between the veins on the lower surface. Flowers at first white, becoming mauve, 3–8 mm long, with a short tube and 4 spreading lobes. Stamens 2. Flowers in 6–20 flowered single or paired open clusters. Flowering: spring–autumn.
Family was Scrophulariaceae.
Hybridises with Veronica notabilis where they grow together.
All native plants on unleased land in the ACT are protected.
