Subalpine woodland, alpine and subalpine heath, grassland, disturbed sites, and bogs. Kosciuszko National Park.
Shrub to 0.5 m high, usually dying back to the base after seeding. Stems with sparse curved or twisted hairs in longitudinal bands. Leaves usually in compact clusters on very short lateral branches at the lower nodes, usually 1.5–3 cm long, deeply divided into 2–17 narrow lobes, the longest lobes 0.3–2 cm long and often further divided or toothed, ultimate divisions 0.5–1.2 mm wide, surfaces more or less hairless, tips somewhat pointed. Flowers white or pale lilac or bright blue, 3.5–6 mm long, with a short tube and 4 spreading lobes. Stamens 2. Flowers in elongated 20–40-flowered clusters mostly 5–17 cm long. Flowering: Summer.
