Forest adjoining gardens. Coast and ranges north from near Tahmoor. ACT. Occasionally elsewhere.
Introduced shrub or tree to about 4 m high. Fruit fleshy. Stems slightly hairy or hairless. Leaves opposite each other, mostly 5–9 cm long, 15–40 mm wide, tips pointed or blunt, margins curved to rolled down, upper surface glossy dark green and hairless, lower surface paler with hairs on the veins. Flowers white, sometimes tinged pink, with 5 petals each 3–4 mm long, joined together to just below the middle. Flowers in much-branched clusters 5–8 cm diameter. Flowers mainly spring. Fruit metallic blue-black, 5–10 mm long, oval.
