Disturbed sites, especially near established vineyards and streams. Coast and ranges north of Wollongong. Doubtfully naturalised in the ACT.
Introduced deciduous woody climber with stems to 35 m long. Fruit fleshy. Bark flaky. New growth hairy to some extent. Leaves alternating up the stems, 5–15 cm long and wide, shallowly to deeply 3–7 lobed, margins irregularly toothed, bases usually cordate, lower surface often hairy, upper surface becoming hairless; tips somewhat pointed. Forked tendrils. Flowers pale green, with 5 petals, each about 2-5 mm long. Flowers in many-flowered densely branched clusters to about 15 cm long. Fruit green, yellow, red or purplish-black, elliptical to globular, about 1–2 cm diameter, sweet tasting.
