Where found

Forest, disturbed grassy places, rocky ridges and creek banks. Western parts os the Sydney area and lower Blue Mountains. Occasionally elsewhere.

Notes

Perennial herb to 0.3 m high. Hairless. Leaves 3, alternating up the stem, 6–20 cm long, lowest leaf threadlke or linear, 1–2.5 mm wide, not dilated basally; second leaf dilated basally, upper portion tapering; upper leaf dilated with a short or long narrow portion at the top. Flowers all bisexual, lower flowers bisexual and upper flowers male, male and female flowers on the same plant, or rarely plants with entirely male flowers. Flowers white with raised pink to purple markings, with 6 spreading 'petals' each 8–10 mm long, shortly fused at the base. Anthers red or purple. Flowers in open clusters of 1–6. Flowers Aug.–Dec.
