Perennial herb to 0.6 m high, Stems sparsely hairy, almost hairless. Leaves mostly basal, a few alternating up the stems, 2–4 cm long, 15–40 mm wide, deeply dissected into 3 lobes 1.5–3 cm long, the lobes often divided again, the whole leaf almost compound. Leaf margins scalloped, toothed or slashed into narrow pointed lobes, lower surface sparsely stellate-hairy. Individual flowers white to pinkish, with 5 narrow petals about 1.5 mm long, and 5 petal-like sepals each about 1–1.6 mm long, in few flowered clusters, occasionally single. Flower clusters look like individual flowers. Bracteoles below each cluster 2-3, petal-like, white, 3–8 mm long. Flower sub-clusters with 3-5 'flowers', some individual flowers amongst them, with 16-36 flowers in all. Flowers September–April.
