Perennial herb to 0.1 m high, often sprawling. Leaves mostly basal, a few alternating up the stems, 0.5-2 cm long, 15-25 mm wide, usually becoming hairless, deeply dissected into 3 lobes, the lobes often divided again, the ultimate segments linear to oval, the whole leaf almost compound. Individual flowers white or reddish, with 5 petals to about 1.5 mm long, and 5 petal-like sepals each to 1.7 mm long, mostly in clusters of 1–6 flowers. Flower clusters may look like individual flowers. Bracteoles below the flower sub-clusters petal-like, green or green with red tinges, 3.5–4 mm long. Flowers September–January.
