Damp or swampy areas, often in heath. Coast and ranges north of Jamberoo Lookout west of Kiama.
Perennial herb. Flower stalks to 0.6 m long, flat to flattened cylindrical, with 2–4 prominent raised ribs, the ribs covered with minute warts. Leaves clustered at the base of the plant, 3.5–30 cm long, 1–4 mm mm wide, flat, often twisted; leaf margins pale, warty, sheathing base 1–3 cm long, brown or reddish brown, not shiny. Flowers yellow, with 3 petals each 5–9 mm long. Flower buds contained within a tight oval to oval brownish head 5–25 mm long, 3–10 mm in diameter. Flowers opening one at a time from within the flower cluster, rarely 2 flowers open at the same time. Flowering: spring to summer.
