Forest, woodland, heath, rocky areas, and along streams. Coast, ranges, tablelands, and the ACT.
Shrub to 3 m high. Stems velvety with stellate hairs (needs a hand lens or a macro app on your phone/tablet to see), and not warty. Leaves often somewhat grapefruit-scented when rubbed, opposite each other, compound, with 3 leaflets, each 0.6–4.2 cm long, 2.5–17 mm wide, tips pointed to more or less rounded, margins entire, and more or less flat; both surfaces velvety, upper surface dark green, lower surface grey-green. Flowers deep to pale pink, occasionally white, with 4 petals each 3.5–6 mm long, and with 4 stamens. Flower clusters shorter than to longer than the leaves, 3–30-flowered. Bracts surrounding the flower bud clusters 8–10 mm long, remaining after the flowers open. Flowers winter and spring.
All native plants on unleased land in the ACT are protected.
