Summary

  • Narrow distribution. Southeast Asia, Oceania. On kauri only. A minor disease.
  • Raised galls form, up to 20 mm diameter and 5 mm high. Within them are white to yellow pustules that produce spores. The underside of the pustules are often depressed.
  • Spread occurs as the spores are blown by wind.
  • Cultural control: none recommended.
  • Chemical control: none recommended.

Scientific Name

Aecidium fragiforme. There are two rusts known on Agathis, Aecidium fragiforme and Aecidium balansae. The latter occurs in New caledonia.
