ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

This project represents an update to a key that was originally constructed using DELTA software by Drs Robert J. Raven (RJR), Mark S. Harvey and Barbara C. Baehr (BCB). This highly updated version, funded by the Australian Biological Resources Study (ABRS), was championed by Barbara, who, for personal reasons, stepped back from the project. However, the keys are still much the better for her original scoring and the rich assortment of her illustrations and images.

We are immensely thankful to Matt Taylor at Identic Pty Ltd (Brisbane, Queensland) for his patience and masterful assistance with developing this key based on Lucid software. This project could not have been completed without his input and guidance.

We would also like to thank the colleagues and students who provided valuable input during the development and testing phases of this key.

Images

These derive from several sources and include illustrations, scanning electron micrographs, photographs of whole spiders (with photographer acknowledged), webs, burrows, etc, maps, and photomicrographs.

Many illustrations were made by BCB during the original contract and are attributed either in the caption or by her signature on the figure; while others derive from her existing unpublished work on spiders. Further images are scanned from originals of published or unpublished figures prepared for or by RJR, principally by Mrs Helen Stark (image signed HS) and Ms Clare Bremner (image captioned CB).

Scanning electron micrographs were produced by RJR and are taken from work either in press or in manuscript.

Photographs of whole spiders, webs, burrows, etc, derive from the collection of RJR, the Queensland Museum (QM), the collection of Dr Garth May (GM), held by the Queensland Museum, and Western Australian Museum (WAM), and are attributed in the caption accordingly.

Maps were by produced RJR and are used from work in press or in manuscript.

Photomicrographs were produced by RJR, some are used from work in press or in manuscript.
