Total length

Medium to extremely large (4–30mm or more).

Distribution

Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, Australian Capital Territory (Fig. 1).

Habitat

Tropical rainforest, temperate rainforest, open eucalyptus forest.

Spinnerets

Four. PLS segments equal in length; apical segment digitiform.

Cephalothorax

Caput of females gently raised, higher than thoracic portion or steeply raised to vertical posteriorly; fovea of females deeply procurved or U-shaped.

Eyes six or eight eyes; group tiny, about 0.3 of headwidth; two rows; rows equal in width; on tubercle.

Chelicerae fangs longitudinal; prolateral tooth row present or rarely absent; middle row of teeth distinct or short; retrolateral tooth row present or rarely absent; intercheliceral tumescence in male absent; rastellum absent.

Maxillae longer than wide; anterior lobe well defined, conical; serrula a wide band; cuspules in female numerous, dense, clustered at anterior inner corner.

Labium longer than wide; cuspules numerous, dense; in broad group.

Sternum with three pairs of sigilla.

Legs

Preening combs on metatarsi absent; tarsi with filiform trichobothria for length.

Claws: three; paired claws with one row of teeth centrally; third claw in female dentate; tufts absent.

Scopula: absent.

Male Palp

Cymbium aspinose and ascopulate.
