Distribution

Confined to the northern Brisbane Ra., Werribee Gorge and Beaufort areas, and near Wedderburn, Vic.

Description

Phyllodes 6–26 mm long, usually strongly concave-convex in section. Peduncles (7–) 9–15 mm long, slender, hispid with gland-tipped hairs sometimes mixed with shorter eglandular hairs; heads (15–) 24–35-flowered, 4–6 mm diam., cream to pale lemon yellow. Bracteoles gland-tipped, not exserted in the buds.

Habitat

Grows in open forest dominated by Eucalyptus.

Vic.: 4.5 km S of Beaufort, A.C.Beauglehole 61680 (MEL); Brisbane Ra. Natl Park, J.R.Grimes 3377 (BH, MEL, NY); 17.1 km SW of Bacchus Marsh, P.C.Jobson 3597 (BRI, MEL); between Bacchus Marsh and Brisbane Ra., B.R.Maslin 3498 (MEL, PERTH).

Notes

Relatively few collections referred to subsp. parviceps seemingly approach subsp. aspera, fide N.G.Walsh, Muelleria 19: 7 (2004).

Acacia aspera subsp. parviceps was noted as ‘a variant from the Brisbane Ra., Vic. by B.R.Maslin, Fl. Australia 11A: 592 (2001).
