Distribution

Confined to the Blackdown Tableland S of Blackwater, Qld.

Description

Graceful shrub 1–2 m high, distinguished from A. ruppii in the following ways: Phyllodes linear to narrowly linear, 1–3 cm long, 0.6–1.2 mm wide; gland normally absent. Inflorescences 6–15-headed racemes; raceme axes 2–5 cm long and together with the peduncles rather slender and sparsely to moderately hairy; heads 4–5 mm diam., c. 20-flowered. Petals glabrous or subglabrous. Pods (very immature, also old dehisced valves) subglaucous, glabrous to subglabrous.

Habitat

Grows on sandstone in Eucalyptus woodland; it is common in wetter areas.

Qld: Blackdown Tableland, 29 km SW of Dingo, L.A.S.Johnson s.n. (NSW100518, PERTH); Blackdown Tableland, Rainbow Falls, K.A.W.Williams 80176 (BRI).

Notes

Perhaps better treated as a subspecies of A. ruppii. Phyllodes may resemble those of A. burbidgeae which is readily distinguished by its non-racemose inflorescences.
