Phyllode apex (pungency)
Inspect apex of mature phyllodes and determine degree of pungency (i.e. sharpness).
Ignore actively growing new shoots.
Not pungent. Phyllode tips soft and pliable, or if ending in a small +/- hard point then not at all pungent. This State also includes phyllodes which lack apical points.
Sometimes it is difficult to (subjectively) decide if tips are Not pungent or Coarsely pungent: if in doubt select both States.
This Feature has greatest discriminating power when phyllodes are sharply pungent.
