Description

Rhizome short- to medium-creeping, 10–14 mm thick, scaly towards the apex; scales 2–12 mm long, 0.3–1.5 mm wide, dark brown. Fronds moderately crowded. Stipe 20–75 cm long, rough, scaly and hairy towards the base. Lamina 4-pinnate, pentagonal, 25–70 cm long, 20–60 cm broad, pale green, dull, thin, with soft white hairs on both surfaces; rachises densely hairy and with scattered scales. Ultimate segments oblong; margins irregularly toothed; apex obtuse to acute. Sori submarginal; indusium dark brown to black, with coloured glands on the margins and surface.

Distribution

Occurs from the McIlwraith Range to Dawes Range in QLD. Also in Malesia.

Habit and habitat

Terrestrial in rainforest, wet sclerophyll forest and open forests over a wide altitudinal range.
