Description

Rhizome erect, to c. 2.5 cm diam., scaly; scales to 10 mm long, 2 mm wide, rigid, brittle, dark brown. Fronds tufted, to c. 1 m long. Stipe to 36 cm long, stramineous, glabrescent. Lamina 1-pinnate, ovate, to c. 70 cm long, dark green; basal pinnae 6.5–8 cm long, 1–1.5 cm wide; next few pairs of pinnae the widest, 12–14 (–18) cm long, 1.4–1.9 (–3.2) cm wide, deeply lobed to 1.25–2 mm from costa (c. seven-eighths the distance to costa); basal lobes of middle and sometimes lower pinnae often elongate; costules c. 4 mm apart; veins 6–11 pairs; basal vein from adjacent costules uniting to form a short excurrent vein, or on distal parts of a pinna meeting at the sinus; rachis on both surfaces bearing many c. 1 mm long acicular hairs; similar hairs on costae, costules, veins and between veins, 0.3–0.7 mm long, with sparse small colourless short-stalked spherical glands. Sori ±medial on veins; indusium rounded-reniform, c. 0.5 mm diam., bearing many slender 0.2–0.25 (–0.5) mm long erect acicular hairs; sporangia with a gland-tipped 3-celled hair on stalk. 

Distribution

Endemic to the Wet Tropics of NE QLD between Bloomfield and Johnstone Rivers.

Habit and habitat

Terrestrial on banks in lowland to upper montane mesic vine forest.
