Description

Rhizome c. 0.5 mm diam., hairy; hairs robust, glossy dark brown, forming tufts at the stipe bases, sometimes extending to the stipe and main rachis. Fronds 4.2–20 cm long. Stipes widely spaced, slender, unwinged or occasionally winged, 0.7–5 cm long. Lamina narrowly to broadly lanceolate, deeply 3-pinnatifid, 2.2–16 cm long, 2–8.5 cm wide, with scattered dark brown medifixed hairs; apex sometimes elongated; lower pinnules often flabellate and ±deeply lobed. Ultimate segments linear, obtuse, 0.7–2 mm wide; margins entire. Sori at the apices of ultimate segments, mostly on acroscopic side of pinnae, ±confined to upper portion of the frond; involucre obovate, bilabiate, divided to the middle, remainder immersed, 2.5–3.2 mm long, 0.7–1.5 mm wide; base cuneate; margins entire; apex obtuse; receptacle long-exserted 0.6–5 mm beyond the valves. 

Distribution

Endemic to NE QLD between Mt Finnegan and Eungella.

Habit and habitat

Epiphytic and lithophytic in mesic mid to upper montane vine forest, usually near creeks.

Named after Queensland Government botanist Frederick M. Bailey for providing assistance to botanist Karol Domin.
