Shrub or tree to 16 m tall. Fleshy seed stalks/arils. Bark smooth or corrugated. Branchlets often longitudinallygrooved, angled towards the tips, hairless. 'Leaves' alternating up the stems, 8-25 cm long, 7-30 mm wide, straight or almost strongly curved, usually 2 or 3 or more longitudinal veins more prominent, margins more or less resinous and irregularly notched, tips more or less blunt. 1 marginal gland at the base. Flower heads creamy white to pale yellow, cylindrical, 30-70 mm long, single or paired. Flowers Spring to Summer. Arils on the seeds large, folded several times.
