Forest and heath, mostly in damp or swampy areas. Coast and ranges south from Eden and Bombala. One coastal record from near Mogo, south of Batemans Bay, and a few sightings at Jervis Bay.
Shrub or tree to 5 m tall. Sharp-pointed 'leaves'. Seeds with a fleshy, oblique, top shaped, aril. Bark smooth. Branchlets hairy, angled, ridged, becoming cylindrical. 'Leaves' usually whorled, sometimes clustered, very occasionally alternating up the stems, 0.5-2.5 cm long, 0.5-3 mm wide, rigid, surfaces sparsely hairy or hairless, midvein prominent, tips sharply pointed. Stipules at the bases of the leaves shed early. Flower heads yellow to cream, cylindrical, 10-15 mm long, in 1-3 flowered clusters. Flowers Winter to Summer.
