Where found

Dry forest and woodland, often on rocky slopes or in gullies. Western Slopes north and west from the Young district. Tablelands and ranges.

Suburban plants in Canberra and around Sydney are garden escapes.

Notes

Shrub to 5 m tall. Bark smooth. Fleshy seed stalks/arils. Branches weeping. Branchlets more or less cylindrical, hairy. 'Leaves' alternating up the stems, 1-2 cm long, 4-10 mm wide, hairy (or hairy only on the margins), midvein prominent, tips more or less pointed to blunt with a delicate mucro 1–2 mm long. Flower heads yellow, globular, 10-30 flowered (easiest seen in late buds), 3.5-5 mm in diameter, in elongated clusters of 8-25 flower heads. Flowers Winter to Spring.

Family was Mimosaceae.

Hybridises with Acacia pravissima.
