Introduced annual herb to 0.30 m high, sometimes sprawling to prostrate. Plants rough to sticky hairy. Leaves opposite each other, 0.3–1 cm long, 2–6 mm wide, stalkless. Flowers white, 5–8 mm in diameter, with 5 petals. Flowering: spring and summer. Seed case oval to globular or urn-shaped, 4–5 mm long, swollen at the base, with curved sides.
