Sloping sandstone country and swampy areas. Coast, ranges, and the eastern edge of the tablelands, north of Tabourie Lake.
Tufted perennial herb. Scape to about 0.80 m high. Leaves crowded at the base of the stem, to 75 cm long, to 5 mm wide, channelled, keeled, margins straight and slightly thickened, and scalloped and rough, or smooth. Flowers usually 20–30 mm long, 5-10 mm in diameter, brownish red with 6 yellow lobes. Tube narrowed in the lower third, expanded and more or less cylindrical above. Anthers 2–2.8 mm long. Flowers in loose clusters, 3–20-flowered. Flowering: late spring to summer.
Intermediates between Blandfordia grandiflora and Blandfordia nobilis occur where their ranges overlap.
