Perennial herb to 0.48 m high. Flower stalks hairless or hairy with few to many glandular hairs, usually with 1-2 (rarely more) small leaf-like bracts. Leaves basal, 2.5-24 cm long, 3-15 mm wide, hairless or rarely with some glandular hairs, margins entire, tips pointed. Plant with the remains of old leaves persisting at the base of the flower stalk(s). Flower heads single, 15-30 mm in diameter overall, with 45-90 white to mauve 'petals' 6-10.7 mm long, and yellow centres 6-11 mm in diameter. Bracts appressed to the flower heads 14-25. Flowering: Oct-May.
Definite identification of most species of Brachyscome depends on microscopic examination of the seeds.
