Wet heath, along streams, and in and near swamps, mostly at higher altitudes. Blue Mountains.Widespread south of the Hume Highway but not on the Western Slopes.
Shrub to 3 m tall, new growth silvery-grey. Leaves often with sharp tips. Bark hard. Stems hairy, becoming hairless. Leaves aromatic when rubbed, alternating up the stems, 1-3.2 cm long, 0.75-2 mm wide, often thick and almost cylindrical, oil glands mostly on the lower surface. Flower spikes 20-70 mm long, 15–22 mm in diameter, creamy white to yellow, sometimes tinged with green or pink. Individual flowers with 5 petals. Flowers mostly Spring to Summer, and sporadically throughout the year.
