Damp forest, woodland, heath, herbfields, grasslands, and rocky areas. Mainly in Kosciuszko National Park, the mountains to the north, and ACT, occasionally elsewhere.
Annual to perennial herb to 0.50 m high, sprawling to erect, with a taproot. Usually hairless, rarely hairy. Basal leaves in a rosette, 5-25 cm long, compound, with 3-9 leaflets. Stem leaves 0-6, alternating up the stems, smaller, to 10 cm long, compound to dissected or entire. Flowers with 4 white, pink or purple petals 4.5–12 mm long. Stamens 6. Sepals 2–3 mm long, purple with white margins. Flowers usually in many-flowered clusters. Flowers spring–autumn.
All native plants on unleased land in the ACT are protected.
