Bogs and seepages at elevations of more than 900 m altitude. Blue Mountains
Perennial herb to more than 0.2 m high. Scapes woolly, with leaflike bracts to 4 cm long. Leaves basal, with a broad sheathing base, to 20 cm long, upper surface silvery hairy or becoming hairless with age, lower surface with a dense white tomentum, base sheathing, margins rolled down, bases with a broad sheath. Flower heads below the 'petals' broadly top-shaped or hemispherical, 20-30 mm in diameter. Flower heads with numerous white or pink 'petals' 10-20 mm long, and yellow centres. Flowering: summer.

This species is now separated into two species - Celmisia longifolia in the strict sense as described above, and Celmisia sp. Pulchella (M.Gray & C.Totterdell 7079)
