Damp sites and along streams, usually subject to flooding. Western Slopes, tablelands, and the ACT. Occasionally coast and ranges.
Upright perennial herb to 0.3 m tall. Occasionally annual in adverse conditions. Stems hairless, rarely woolly. Does not produce roots from prostrate stems (if they are present). Leaves aromatic when rubbed, alternating up the stems, 0.6-3 cm long, 2.5-7 mm wide, hairy, becoming hairless, sometimes resin dotted, margins toothed to almost entire. Flower heads 4-8 mm in diameter, with many florets, biconvex, or hemispherical (convex above), to almost globular, stalkless, usually single. 'Seeds' 1.2-2 mm long, with 4 prominent ribs (needs a hand lens or a macro app on your phone/tablet to see), and without bristles. Flowers mostly Spring to Autumn.
