Where found

Dry forest, woodland, heath, and grassy areas. Widespread.

Notes

Shrub to 1 m tall or sprawling. Stems densely hairy, especially when young. Leaves alternating up the stems, usually 0.4-2 cm long, less than 1 mm wide, not spirally twisted, tips usually pointed, surfaces smooth to warty, and hairless or with long hairs. Standard petal 8-12 mm long. Flowers pea shaped, with 5 petals, 2 joined together to form the keel, yellow, orange, or red, with red to purple markings, keel dark or reddish. Flowers usually paired, sometimes single, in leafy clusters extending down the stem. Calyx hairy, tapering gradually towards the base. Flowers Spring-Summer.

Intermediates occur between Dillwynia sericea and Dillwynia rudis.

In all species of Dillwynia, the standard petal is much broader than long.

All native plants on unleased land in the ACT are protected.
