Dry forest, mallee, woodland, shrubland, grassland, and occasionally in areas subject to flooding. Western Slopes north and west from Wagga Wagga.
Shrub or tree to 8 m tall. Often suckers from the roots. Fruit fleshy. Mature bark rough, divided into squarish segments. Stems hairy, sometimes sticky. Leaves alternating up the stems, 3-20 cm long, 3-14 mm wide, hairy, often becoming hairless, often sticky, margins entire, tips usually hooked. Flowers pinkish to reddish brown, spotted or unspotted, 20–30 mm long, tubular, 2-lipped, with five lobes, in clusters of 1-5 at the bases of the leaves. Flowering: most of year. Fruit blackish to purplish, almost round to almost oval, 5–12 mm long.
