Variety of habitats. Western Slopes.
Shrub or perennial herb to about 0.3 m high or sprawling. Seed cases with spine-like wings. Leaves somewhat fleshy. Stems variably hairy. Leaves alternating up the stems, 0.5–2 cm long, flat to almost cylindrical, sparsely to densely hairy, tips pointed. Flowers small, tubular, with 5 'petals', the 'petals' densely and hairy with short hairs. Flowers single, usually forming dense leafy spikes. Seed cases hairy, 3.5–5 mm in diameter, with 5 spine-like wings, and 5 lobed or divided spine-like erect appendages on the body.
