Woodland in swampy areas or on stony slopes. Coast and ranges south of Eden.
Notes
Tree to 15 m tall, usually of poor form. Bark rough on all but the smallest branches, thick, shortly fibrous or stringy, longitudinally furrowed, grey over red-brown. Smaller branches with smooth bark, shedding in short ribbons Branchlets often glaucous. Juvenile stems rounded or square in cross section, smooth or warty, usually glaucous. Juvenile leaves opposite each other and stalkless for many pairs, 2.5-6 cm long, 25-60 mm wide, dull, blue-green or glaucous, rarely green. Crown usually blue-grey, consisting of juvenile, intermediate, and adult leaves. Crown leaves opposite each other or alternating up the stems, 6-22 cm long, 14-45 mm wide, dull, blue-green or glaucous, rarely green. Flowers white, with 0 petals. Flower clusters 7-flowered, occasionally 3-flowered, or in 3s and 7s. Mature flower buds 5–10 mm long, caps shorter than to as long as the base. Flowers Spring-Autumn. Gumnuts 5-9 mm in diameter. Gumnuts that have dropped their seed have protruding valves or valves that are not very noticeable.
