Grassy woodland and rocky areas. Western Slopes and tablelands. Near Tumut.
Tree to 20 m high. Bark smooth, shedding in large plates or flakes. Sometimes persistent slabs of grey rough bark on the base of trunk. Branchlets glaucous. Juvenile stems rounded or square in cross section, glaucous. Juvenile leaves opposite each other for 5 to 7 pairs, then alternating up the stems, 6.5–8 cm long, 30–42 mm wide, blue-green to blue-grey or glaucous. Adult leaves alternating up the stems, 5.5–16 cm long, 10–40 mm wide, dull, blue-grey to grey-green or glaucous. Flowers white, with 0 petals. Flower clusters 5-11 flowered. Mature flower buds 6-13 mm long, caps longer than the base. Flowers spring. Gumnuts 4–7 mm in diameter. Gumnuts that have dropped their seed have strongly protruding triangular valves.
Intergrades with Eucalyptus blakelyi and Eucalyptus dwyeri.
