Moist sites in woodland, wet heath, and moist treeless sites. Ranges and ACT, rarely in mountainous areas elsewhere.
Annual or perennial herb to 0.6 m high. More or less rhizomatous. Basal leaves to 4.5 cm long, to 7 mm wide. Stem leaves opposite each other, to 3 cm long, 3-4 mm wide, tips blunt to somewhat pointed. Flowers white with grey violet or purplish to blue veins, cup-shaped with a short tube, and 5 'petals' 10-15 mm long. Flowers is rather dense clusters, usually 7–12-flowered. Flowers November to June.

All native plants on unleased land in the ACT are protected.
